TCQC HS ALUMNI INTER-BATCH FELLOWSHIP GAMES

Last October 4, 2008, an inter-batch fellowship games among High School alumni was held at the AFP Gym. It was participated by Batches 77 (the host batch), 79, 83, 84 and 88.

According to Col. Dante Villanueva, Batch 77 President and activity coordinator, this was the first sportsfest ever held among TCQC alumni. Each participating batch fielded in their best players for basketball and badminton. Likewise, there were cheerers whom Col. Villanueva described as exuberant and gorgeous.

The activity, Col. Villanueva quoting one alumnus who said, “besides keeping ourselves fit, the games gave us good break from stressful office and business routine”. It was also a sort of family affair because children of some alumni were there as they watched and cheered for their dads and moms.

2009 GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING

The 2009 TUA Grand Alumni Homecoming is hosted by the St. Luke’s College of Nursing-Trinity University of Asia Alumni Association. It will be held on February 7, 2009. The Dangal ng Trinity Awards will be part of the dinner-dance type of homecoming where alumni with distinguished professional, academic or research achievement and contribution in terms of leadership and service to the community will be recognized.

Plans for the homecoming include holding it outside TUA; working on a souvenir program highlighting the experiences of individual alumni and groups/batches of alumni when they were still students at TUA/TCQC; and to incorporate the payment for the souvenir program in the price of the ticket. There were suggestions to hold it at Quezon City Sports Club or at Imperial Palace Suites. Before the end of November, plans will be finalized.

ALAY LAKAD PARA SA ALUMNI: AAO FUND-RAISING PROJECT

The Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) under the leadership of Dr. Elena Catalo has created programs geared towards the continuing growth of the University in which alumni involvement is needed. These programs are the following: (1) Community Service Program; (2) Enhancement Program for Alumni; (3) Alumni Linkage for Job Placement; (4) Recognition for Alumni; and (5) Scholarship Program.

The office needs to source for funds particularly for the Community Service Program, the Scholarship Program and the Enhancement Program for Alumni. Hence, last September 20, 2008 the Alay Lakad Para Sa Alumni with the theme, “Let us rise up, (walk), and build- Nehemiah 2:18-b” was held. Tickets were made available for students and non-alumni faculty, staff and support individuals at Php100; and for alumni and administrators at Php150.

More than 2,000 participated in the activity. Participation was from all sectors of the school community such as the administrators, faculty, staff and students. Likewise, there were alumni mostly from the High School, officers of the Association of Former and Retired High School Teachers and officials of the partner communities such as Barangay Damayang Lagi, Barangay Tatalon and Barangay Kalusugan.

The activity started in Quezon Memorial Circle at 7:00 A.M. and culminated at Patio Trinidad, TUA campus where a short program was held to recognize the participating groups. It was over-all rated good by the participants. It was successful in raising initial funds for the intended programs.

TUA IN-HOUSE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (TUAIAA) ORGANIZED

During the past years, college alumni associations were organized and early last year the Federation of Alumni Associations of TUA that its present set of officers renamed as Trinity University of Asia Alumni Association (TUAAA) has been revived. These are being done because we are strongly convinced that collectively the Trinitian alumni would be a viable human and material resource for the continuing development/improvement of the University and its graduates. Thus, to strengthen and quantify the support of the alumni, the TUA In-House Alumni Association (TUAIAA) was organized last July 25, 2008. The elected officers were as follows:

President - Mr. Glenn Agbing
Vice-President - Ms Joy Alonzo
Secretary - Ms Astrenaida Galang
Treasurer - Ms Evelyn Gitalada
Auditor - Prof. Juliet Tuazon
Business Manager - Ms Lovella Mae Edora
Press Relations Officer - Prof. Teresita Capacete

Committee on Community Service Chair - Ms Rosita Rapanot
Committee on Alumni Enhancement Chair - Ms Jorgia Credo
Committee on Scholarship Chair - Ms Helen Baguno

The first task of the officers is to draft the association’s Constitution & By-Laws; prepare it for ratification in an assembly of in-house alumni. They are looking forward to make bigger plans for the association.
